Hold on to your model portfolio’s history

by Alexander Wells on 31 Jul 2017

Performance of a model portfolio is dependent on the securities held within it.  What we should also bear in mind are the securities that used to be held, as they also contribute to performance.

In order to see a depiction of a model portfolio’s performance that holds on to the history of changes the portfolio has undergone, use a Variable model.

Details of how to create and run a Variable model are available via the image below.

Portfolio Diversification – the Correlation Matrix

by Alexander Wells on 13 Jun 2017

“Asset allocation is not that different from what mom told us when growing up: don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” – David I. Lampe

Having a well diversified portfolio is key to risk management, and asset allocation is a vital part of this.  Morningstar have the underlying holdings of thousands of funds, which makes it possible to compare two or more funds in order to see how closely they correlate.

Use the Correlation Matrix to see how similar the funds in a portfolio or list are.  Click the link in the image below for further details.
